KoD Advice Column Numero 1

Well, this post is dedicated to all like-minded people (comparison with me.. ) !
Earlier this year, July to be precise, I was totally confused whether or not to take the GRE.
My preparation sucked ( on a serious note, i don't think its wise of me to call what i had accomplished a preparation...) and i really wasn't sure whether i knew what i wanted to do in the US.
So, what did i do??
I pretty much bugged a lot of my friends about it and finally concluded that i wasn't ready for MS.

Come NoV2007, the great KoD extends PS, reasons being i)being in cisco will definitely help in the CCNA prep and ii)yoyo stipend :D [ok now, i know what u r thinking... reason ii should be i and .... nah seriously, it ain't!!) So i start preparing for it and finish a book, and that's when I actually check what the portion is on the website. I knew that the pattern had changed and some extra stuff was included now.. but oh my gawd! I see they haven't added stuff, they have actually taken some higher certification and removed stuff from it.
So, there I am, devastated, wondering why i do this to myself... damn, I had actually completed a book which was worth a few 100 pages in the new books prescribed for CCNA.. And I have got some 1 and half books to finish within 2 weeks !! I really should mention here that Wendell Odom ( author of CCNA book - btw he really rox ) is making a fortune by publishing new books, every time the pattern changes!! So, as usual, i whack my brains and finally after a few days, conclude "lite kod, its ok .. u have not booked ccna nah, u learnt from having to cancel ur gre date.. good work!! And, yeah, why attempt a test when you haven't even prepared for it..?"

I feel like killing myself ( Nah, that was just exaggerating :P ) . Seriously, i gotta get a hold of myself. I haven't given a single test this entire ps, while people have cleared 2-3 hurdles at the same time. I always felt i was an optimist, by using the Take Light policy at college. Now i really feel that i don't have belief in my own abilities. Really sucks big time..!!
So, that 's why i have posted this here, maybe some fellow Lite candidates may face this situation. Lol, i haven't given the "advice" part yet.. Try to believe that you can do it, and do it..
and if you don't succeed, don't blame me for that [:P]

Bored to HeLL

Ah this is my second post for the day .. Man O' Man am i f*d up or what?!
totally bored.. played carpet cricket , chess , TT ...omg .. realllly boring day .. i guess the sun and moon are aligned in the most idiotic angle with jupiter and some bad rays are falling on me :P
Hmm.. am actually thinking what to type here..
Well yeah , why not discuss some cricket..!
I was really happy that Kumble was made the captain for the Indian Test side. This guy has been a great asset to the team, but hasn't been praised enough for his performances. Also, giving the test captaincy to Dhoni would really be an insane amount of responsibility for him. I always feel that things just go your way sometimes and whatever you do to mess it up, it just doesn't go bad!!
I experienced this in college (oh darn reminds me that i have only one sem left :( )
esp during first and second years. Whatever crap i did, things just went my way. I always felt that it was some sort of late reward for my not-so-deserving-self in 12th...

And all of a sudden, come 3rd year , BOOM some assjole stole my super-duper luck!!
Anyways...where was I ... oh ya Dhoni!! Well the exact same thing is gonna happen to him too, and you really don't want him to fade so soon by burdening him with this OMFG load .. :D

So finally, indian selectors have done something right.

Ok, now about "Should YuV be in the test squad or not?"

He really should, goddammit!! The guy is in the best form of his life, has played a handful of test in his 7 years in International Cricket... and still doesn't get a place in the team?! That is crazy ..
Surely one of the openers must be dropped ( or rather both, and have YuV and Sehwag in the team :D :D as openers!! )
Karthik's really in bad touch in international cricket (esp ODI) and I feel he's capable , but definitely YuV needs to get the nod for him !!

Huff.. ok that's enough on what i feel about indian cricket .. lets just forget about the "Gary Kirsten is gonna be India's next coach saga" ...
Well lemme try doing something else now.. if i'm still bored , well i'll come back and post again ..heheh...

Google O Google..

Well i saw manoj s blog yesterday, and read abt the history of google..
it was pretty amazing, the story of a company not even a decade old! I definitely feel with my zero knowledge of stock markets, that the best thing to do would be to invest in the Google stock, but unfortunately u cannot invest in it(legally) if u r in India :( [If sum1 knows more abt this, please temme :D ]
hmm , well i wonder what i would do without google! It gives me everything i want!! The number of lines of code i v Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V'd using google , wow saves so much time!!

It amazes u with results that u are just looking for !
Rumors that google's gonna release an OS in a couple of years.. I m sure that wud spell the END for MS!! I mean.. Jus imagine, they have got the best brains in the world for algorithms and blah blah.. and if they are to release an OS, with the open source stuff google is into, i wonder why any1 wud pay for MS OS then!!
Everything that they release is like "OmfG"... U just wonder how they do it.. and the best part is the element of surprise in their products...
Damn, if i could relive my college life, 1 thing I would do for sure is take the DSA,OS courses seriously and try to get myself into a position to be able to make it to google..

Its definitely the best place to work, and surely THE company thats gonna make it huge in the next decade..

RotK - Return of the KoD

Ah! Its been a looooong time since i posted here .. and yes.. as the title says ..
its the return of the KoD :P!!
hmm so what was i upto all these dayz!! well from the looks of it , its been 10 months.. lol , thats a lotta time!!

Well to be honest, (hmm am i trying to say i aint honest at times :P ?? ) reading some hilarious blogs have rekindled my spirit to blog!! If u haven't checked this blog, i suggest u do it now , coz its one of the most amazing one's i have seen!

Hmm ok, so my last post was about rock and metal music with some idiotic formatting :P ...
well I v been on a downloading spree from the day i started interning @ CISCO (July 17th) ..
lots of such crazy guitar music which i can't do without..!!

Hmm.. so lemme tell you how i spend a day @ cisco :D
well i come here by 11 am, after working my way through the not-so-insane bangalore traffic (hmm that reminds me...ahh well lemme postpone this to another post...hehe)..
then get to my cube, and .. well first thing i do is put my headphones on!! I m so used to putting them on, that it really doesn't matter if i'm lisnin to something or not...Then time 2 relax, am basically rewarding myself for getting to cisco alive :P
Open Gtalk , Outlook , Sametime , Orkut , Blogs , etc and do total TP(time pass) till 11 45 or 12..
Hmm yes then time to .... naaah not work... time to have tea!!!
And there , in the pantry, read my favorite newspaper ToI (ye yea ob .. thats y :P)
ah , ok so I come back around 12 20, and hmm okie I decide lemme start working on whatever I have been asked to do..
Ding-Dong!! time s 1 pm LOL thats time for lunch, after all the hectic work :P
Come back by 1 40 after hogging and gulping a tin of pepsi!!
You should never work immediately after lunch, well thats what I v heard and I strictly adhere to it :D
Chat and head bang for some time , exchange reviews of some of the recent songs I v heard with Sc'jole...! We got such a similar taste in music, that just keeps us going on and on...
Ah its almost 3...Conscience pricks me :P saying "Assjolest fellow , work for sometime atleast, Thu U" !!! hehe...
So i work for a while and yea , i must admit it, i really have learned a lot over here!! Well since i have my headphones on the entire time with some metal stuff playing pretty much max volume, i dont get distracted at all :D

hmm.. the track changes ... ahh!! what is that i hear?!! 'The sound of a ball pitching .... and a bat hitting it'..!!
yoyo time for gully(rather carpet..hehe..)cricket!! CISCO is such a cool place to work.
I dont find people stressed out at all!!
The team I m working with is full of such cool people and i join them for carpet cricket!! :D

Ah that was fun ... omg the times 5 30!! time to work (atleast try to.. :P) again...
Around 6 30 i leave , totally fresh from the days hard hard work :D

... Well some of you might think .. ' Ah this is pure exaggeration!! It cant be like this ..'
Hmm well this is pretty much the case 4 outa 5 days a week!!

hmm.. i remember 3 years back i was so much into pop mus!k , and felt rock musik as crap ...
man o' man was i wrong or wat?! rocK mus!k and meTaL siMplY are the b3sT!

Metallica , Iron MAiden , SoAd , cOlD, rammste!n, marlyn manson being my favorites!

some other bands that are gr8 to listen to are All That ReMains , AlterBridge .....
have to discover a lot more tho!

well i v played a number of strategy gamz on lan but never have i played a game that can be so addictive like counter-strike 1.6,CZ .
This game is the best FPS game in the world with a record number of servers.
At any point of time ,stats show that 85000 ppl are playin this game! pretty amazin huh!?

If by any chance u haven played this game , u r missin somthin!
